There’s a tip I heard ages ago that I always seem to recall after its usefulness has passed. As I’m scrubbing away at the dirt lodged firmly under my fingernails, evidence of my outdoor labours, I remember that rubbing your nails over a bar of soap before putting on your gloves will make clean up quicker and easier, and prevent that little line of dirt that seems to get lodged deep under the nail, refusing to budge.
Well, Saturday I actually remembered ahead of time, and tried it before working on the brick driveway edging I’m putting in. Guess what? It does work. I’m thinking a bar of my favourite at both doors and in the shed, as those are the places I tend to set down my gloves.
Happy autumn cleanup!
